Visiting Assistant Professor, American Studies and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Colby College invites applications for a one-year replacement position for the 2008-09 academic year, beginning September 1, 2008. The successful candidate will be jointly appointed in the programs in American Studies and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Five course teaching load, to include an introductory course in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, an introductory course in American Studies, and three electives in candidate's area of specialization. Ph.D. in hand by September 1, 2008; significant teaching experience strongly preferred.

Associate Professor with Tenure of Women's and Ethnic Studies Program

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs invites applications for an Associate Professor with tenure to serve as Director of the Women's and Ethnic Studies Program (WEST). WEST is a new interdisciplinary program that offers a B.A., and separate minors in Women's Studies and Ethnic Studies, which are overseen by faculty coordinators. WEST evolved from established programs in Women's Studies and Ethnic Studies, which have a long history of collaboration. It has 2.5 FTE and more than 20 participating faculty affiliates across the campus. The Director will have responsibilities similar to a chair and advance the Program toward department status.
The most appropriate candidate will have professional, interdisciplinary experience/training in race and gender studies, and hold a record of both distinguished teaching and discipline-based scholarship, which focuses on the intersections of race, class, gender, and/or sexuality, social justice, and the dynamics of privilege and oppression. The Director will promote faculty research as well as curriculum development, and facilitate cross-campus communication and outreach. Preference will be given to candidates who evidence program building and administrative ability and experience, as well as commitment to service and community engagement.
